[Android] Biometrics: fingerprint, face unlock

Setup

Depending on your device model and Android version you can also unlock Safe using biometric methods. 
  1. Go to Settings > Security > Authentication.
  2. Turn on Biometric login.
  3. Confirm access when prompted by your system.
  4. Complete the setup as instructed by your device.
ℹ️ Biometrics must be set up in your phone's system settings first. The preferred method configured there will be used when you select the Default biometric option in Safe.

Usage

  1. Close and reopen the Safe app.
  2. The unlock screen will appear.
  3. Use your fingerprint or face to log in.
  4. Access to your database will be granted automatically.
ℹ️ Remember your password even if you are using the Biometric login. If you forget the password, you will not be able to restore it and might lose access to your data.

Troubleshooting

Biometric login doesn't work

  1. Make sure your device supports biometrics and it's enabled in the system settings.
  2. Check if Biometric login is turned on in Settings > Security > Authentication.
  3. Restart the app and try again.
  4. If the issue persists:
  5. Turn off Biometric login in Settings > Security > Authentication.
  6. Restart the app.
  7. Turn it on again and complete setup.
ℹ️ Biometric recognition may fail due to dirty sensors, poor lighting, or changes in appearance (cuts, makeup, etc.).

Password is still required

If biometric login fails, you can still enter your master password at the bottom of the unlock screen. Biometrics only simplify access - they do not replace your credentials.
